DA concerned about murder of Katlehong woman

Ndobe said no witness has come forward to link the suspect to the murder of the deceased.

DA Katlehong political head Lebo More has in a media statement condemned the killing of Nthabiseng Bulwane of Katlehong, allegedly by her boyfriend, on February 14.

According to communications officer at Katlehong SAPS Capt Mega Ndobe, it is alleged Bulwane was last seen on the evening of February 14 while on her way to the Sam Ntuli Mall in Thokoza with her boyfriend. The following day her body was found in an open field next to the Thokoza mall. Her tongue was slit and she had 15 stab wounds in her back.

The suspect, who was Bulwane’s boyfriend and the father of two of her children, was arrested.

He appeared in court and was released due to a lack of evidence.

“It is important that members of the public understand that the police deal with facts and not hearsay,” said Ndobe.

More said she will write to the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, requesting that a proper investigation be done about this case.

“We are looking forward to the conviction and sentencing of the perpetrator who has acted barbarically towards Bulwane.

“The DA calls for better training of police officers to ensure that cases are not thrown out of our courts because of lack of evidence,” More said.

She also said it was concerning that gender-based violence was skyrocketing to shocking levels, is a daily occurrence that was becoming the norm, and that this must stop.
