The Katlehong SAPS arrested 33 suspects between January 24 and 26.
The arrests were made by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and members of the EMPD during a number of stop-and-search operations and roadblocks held throughout their policing precinct.

The suspects were charged with various offences.
Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, malicious damage to property, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, theft, shoplifting, possession of drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.
All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Phakama Gcaza was pleased with the arrests made and thanked the EMPD for joining the Katlehong police in the fight against crime in the area.
