Dlamini said that she was so touched by what she was experiencing on a daily basis, especially at pension pay points on paydays.

The kitchen staff made sure guests at the old age home ceremony were fed the best in township cuisine as part of the celebrations in honour of Matlakala Dlamini.
Kathorus MAIL was invited to the Vosloorus Old Age Home on November 29, where one of the township’s oldest resident and founding member of the Vosloorus Old Age Home, 83-year-old Matlakala ‘Tlaki’ Dlamini, was honored by the community, her former colleagues, family members, relatives, friends and peers for her almost 40-year contribution to the welfare of the elderly in the township.
She was born in Wattville, Benoni, on May 7, 1936. In 1964 at the age of 28, Tlaki moved to Vosloorus where she said she became aware of the abuse of the elderly in the township under the apartheid system.
