Kathorus residents enjoy their swimming pools

Kathorus swimming pools are ready to welcome hundreds of community members who come to swim at their favourite swimming pools in Kathorus.

Like all the swimming pools in Kathorus, Vosloorus Swimming Pool is also open and functioning.

This publication was at the swimming pool to meet with community members who came to chill on December 3.

Children from the township, some accompanied by their parents, came in their numbers to enjoy themselves.

Teboho Mabona, who came with her cousins, told this publication they chose to relax at the Vosloorus Swimming Pool as it is close to where they stay.

“Another reason why we chose to come here is because of the vibe at this pool. It is always full and people always enjoy themselves, like we do today,” Mabona said, adding that the fact that the swimming has enough space for people to chill is another advantage for the community of Vosloorus.

Lungile Ntuli (13) said this is one of the best swimming pools in Kathorus, that is why she loves it.

“We, as young people, love it here. This pool is clean and the water is cool.”

Thabo Tshabalala, who came to swim in the company of his friends, said they grew up swimming at Vosloorus Swimming Pool.

“This swimming pool has a lot of memories since we started using it at a young age. We are adults now, but we still enjoy coming here during summer,” Tshabalala told Kathorus MAIL.

Tumelo Molepo, one of the lifeguards, said the only problem they have as lifeguards are people who swim while under the influence of alcohol.

“It has been said a number of times that swimming and alcohol do not mix. We have tried to stop people from entering the swimming area with alcohol, but because they know that alcohol is no longer allowed they come already drunk,” said Molepo.

He said it is sad because people put their lives at risk, knowing exactly the danger they put themselves in.

Molepo also raised a concern about parents who send their children to the swimming pool without supervision.

“There are parents who just send their children here without knowing the level of safety. They must come and see if lifeguards are there or not. If lifeguards are there, then they can rest assured that their children are safe.”

The safety of the community at the swimming pools is guaranteed as the municipality deployed lifeguards to guard the lives of swimmers.
