Metro’s choir scoops top awards at choral competition

The choir was crowned overall winners of the competition.

The Ekurhuleni choir recently secured first place in both the Vernacular and Western song categories at the Gauteng Choral Association competition.

According to Sphelele Nxele, spokesperson for the Office of the Speaker,  the EMPD choir is well known for performing at the City’s official events and assisting with maintaining stately decorum during ceremonies.

Chief of Police, Isaac Mapiyeye and Mayor Mzwandile Masina hold up the trophies won by the EMPD choir.During the announcement segment, Madam Speaker, Alderman Patricia Kumalo sent out a congratulatory message to the choir, on their outstanding performance.

“The EMPD ensemble is our flagship choir in the City. We are so proud of your outstanding achievement and wish you nothing but the best going forward,” said Kumalo.
