From Katlehong to Russia

Madlala left South Africa for Russia on October 9.

African Full Contact Karate Organisation (AFCKO) held a tournament on May 25, at the Thokoza Auditorium where a karateka, Anele Madlala (23), was chosen to represent AFCKO in the World Fighting Kyokushin Organisation (WFKO) in Russia, on October 12.

Madlala left South Africa for Russia on October 9.

“The selection comes with great responsibility and pressure of representing the nation. I am confident and believe in the training given to me by shihan Mondli Songca together with the AFCKO president, shihan Thulani Sibisi.

“The training was hard on my part, but worth it because I’m preparing for an international stage. I will go there and do my best. I will carry my national flag with pride,” said Madlala.

Madlala said he would like to extend his gratitude to the WFKO for giving Africa this great opportunity to showcase its talent in the Full Contact world.

Thulani Sibisi, AFCKO president, said, “Madlala got position one in the u-80kg category in the tournament. So far, he is the best we have in the country under the category in terms of winning in the AFCKO tournament.

We felt that we should create this opportunity for him while he’s still fresh and still has the energy. Most of the time, such opportunities are received by people who are above the ages of 30, and that leads them to not performing well overseas as they are old. We are hoping that he will represent us with pride and will come back with good results.”

Madlala said he feels excited and confident that he will win.
