Dedicated EMPD official laid to rest

The memorial service of Zoleka Violet Mafumba (49), a dedicated EMPD official, was held at the DH Williams Hall in Katlehong on October 3.

Mafumba was deployed at the Germiston North Precinct. She died during a car accident in Thokoza as she was on her way to work on the morning of September 30.

Mafumba was described by all speakers as dedicated to her work and never having problems with her bosses or member of the community.

Thabo Lindi, family spokesperson and cousin to Mafumba, said his cousin was one of the most supportive members of the family.

“She loved her family and attended all family functions and would make everyone laugh, even during a funeral. She would never come to a family event empty handed. That is the part I will miss the most about her,” said Lindi.

According to Thandiwe Mamlambo, Mafumba’s niece, what she will miss the most about her aunt is that she loved people a lot and she would speak loud and laugh loud with everyone.

“She was not choosy when it comes to the way she related to people. She loved and treated everyone with respect and as an equal. She possessed a character that everyone in the family will miss.

“I hate the fact that she was killed by negligence of one driver who did not stop at a stop sign. I wish people would learn to respect the rules of the road,” said Mamlambo.

EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, who did not want to comment a lot, said all the speakers had already said what was on his mind, adding: “She was the neatest person I know.”
