Ending Women’s Month with a bang

According to Stompie Malope, social auxiliary worker at Katha Day Care, the purpose of the day was to celebrate Women’s Month and end the month in style.

“We want to celebrate the work of women and everything they do. Encourage them to continue with the good work. The world is what it is today because of the good work done by women like Helen Joseph, Lillian Ngoyi and Albertina Sisulu in 1956 during their march held to fight against the pass laws at the time,” said Malope.

Staff members, parents and different NPOs came to celebrate the day.

Mpho Mashosha, a parent and board member, said Women’s Day must not only be celebrated in August, but it should be ongoing for the entire year.

“There is a lot women did during the struggle against apartheid. Even today there is more work done by woman compared to men. I think it is high time they get the recognition they deserve,” said Mashosha.

One of the staff members, Puleng Motaung, was chosen as the best dressed on the day and won a gift.
