Nageng and Mthimkhulu primary schools to host Career Dress-up Day

Two Vosloorus-based schools, Nageng, and Mthimkhulu primary schools, in collaboration with Expanding Horizons, would like to invite potential guest speakers as part of the schools’ Career Dress-Up Day to be held on September 13 from 10am at Nageng Primary.

According to one of the teachers from Nageng Primary, Bethuel Malebe , who is also the coordinator of the event, the main purpose is to inspire the youth of our community by sharing your career journey, a typical workday, education requirements, dress code, possible employment opportunities, motivational talk and more.

“This is an opportunity for learners to speak with someone whose career interests them and to explore areas they may not have considered before,” said Malebe.

He said it is their wish as the representatives from both schools to see the Grade Seven being psychologically and physically fit when they start high school in 2020.

Speakers are expected to prepare to address the learners using the below guidelines:

• Grade 10 subjects

• Job market and entry requirements

• Higher institution of learning, duration, and name of the qualification

• What your job entails on a daily basis

• Estimation of salary

• Possible employment of organisation

• Any insights or inspiration that could motivate and encourage the Grade Sevens as they continue their secondary school studies and plan for their college or university options and field of work.

Speakers may bring any informative pamphlets or handouts for the learners, gazebos and the tools they work with for practical presentation.
