Man allegedly found with drugs in Marathon

Primrose police apprehended a man on a charge of possession of drugs.

Substance abuse continues to be a challenge for the Primrose police.

Officers arrested a 35-year-old Marathon informal settlement man last Wednesday on a charge of possession of drugs.

The arrest was made after police received a tip-off from the community.

“We were notified that someone was allegedly selling drugs in one of the Marathon informal settlement shacks,” communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome said.

“When officers arrived at the address given they found the accused.

“They introduced themselves and searched him and the shack.”

During the search they found a brown plastic packet allegedly containing drugs.

He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
