Suspects nabbed for possession of stolen property

The suspects were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property.

The Zonkizizwe police arrested two male suspects aged 29 and 37 on the corner of the R550 and R103 on June 25.

The communications officer at Zonkizizwe Police Station, Sgt Rufus Tema, said: “The police were performing their normal crime-prevention duties when they spotted a suspicious white Nissan double cab with four occupants.

“After the vehicle stopped at the order of the police, the occupants jumped out and ran away. The police gave chase and managed to apprehend two of them,” said Tema.

He said the two were escorted back to their vehicle where, upon searching, the police found a box with cellphones and cellphone display stands.

“The suspects failed to give a convincing account of the possession of the property and were subsequently arrested,” Tema said.

The other two are still at large and the investigation is continuing.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon to face their charges.
