Hoping to take a stand

I read your editorial comment in the previous edition with a glimmer of hope in my eyes.

My praises go to the newly established Vosloorus Council of Elders (VCE) for establishing a body that will finally deal with the rot that has engulfed Christianity in our townships.

I hope and pray this is not another “talk-shop” where no action will be taken against the false tent churches and their fraudulent pastors who are misleading the naive and innocent.

It is sad that the government seems to have failed the nation by not taking conclusive action against many of these churches that were probed by Minister Xaluva in her lone attempt to purge religion of these fake churches.

We, as the public, have also learnt from her actions that many of these churches are actually owned by criminals, thus their violent threats against her.

It is now my wish that the new VCE will not cower and bend the knee when they encounter the thug tactics of some of the church leaders. It is also important that communities show their support by standing by the side of the righteous leaders in our communities.

It really takes a strong group of men to do what the VCE has decided to do, despite the odds being sky high.
