New CPF committee introduced

The newly elected Community Policing Forum (CPF) from Thokoza SAPS was introduced to the station management on May 27.

Communications officer at Thokoza SAPS Capt Buyisile Mvelase said: “The Annual General Meeting (AGM) where the committee was elected was held at the station’s barracks hall on May 18 from 8am until 4pm.”

The station commander, Reckson Shiburi, was part of the meeting where nine members were given the toughest task, which is to help fight crime in the area.

The committee consists of Tseko Khumalo, the chairperson; Vusi Twala, the deputy chairperson; Thomas Tyobeka, the secretary; Nthabiseng Mavuso, the deputy secretary; Bob Thimane, the treasurer; Sinethemba Booi, the public relations officer; and three additional members Aphafia Letele, Moses Mofokeng and Xolani Khumalo.

Shiburi and the management welcomed the committee and said they hope to work closely with other crime enforcement agencies at the station.

“I hope the committee will come up with strategies to fight violence and serious crime and that they will be able to encourage the community to continue to report crime at the police station,” said Shiburi.

Khumalo said he is looking forward to playing his role in the police struggle to fight crime.
