BMW Kathorus Club gives back to the community

As part of giving back to the community of Kathorus, the BMW Kathorus Club hosted a charity run in Palm Ridge on May 11.

Looking to making a difference in the local community of Kathorus and Ekurhuleni, the club, which is made up of 23 Ekurhuleni-based members, set out a goal in February 2018 to help local charities to overcome their challenges by donations and provision of services to them.

Public relations officer (PRO) of the club Keaboka Smith-Mphuti said since the club was formed in 2018, their members did not want to be seen only as a group of people driving luxurious cars without doing something special for the needy members of the community.

“There are so many BMW clubs that we know of who are about showing off their cars. But our club is more about taking care of the needs of the needy people in our communities,” said Smith-Mphuti.

She said recently the club made a donation to the the Palmridge Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre of office furniture items such as steel filing cabinets and chairs.

The event was attended by members of the club, the management of the centre and the clients undergoing rehabilitation programmes at the centre.

The donation of furniture was received with gratitude by the stakeholders, including staff members and the recipients of services at the centre.

The club hosts charity runs on a monthly basis.
