Burglary suspect arrested

It is alleged police were patrolling the area when they received a call from 10111 about a burglary in progress at Shoprite Usave.

Katlehong police, on April 29 around 4.30am, apprehended a 29-year-old suspect inside Shoprite Usave in Moleleki Section Extension One for burglary.

It is alleged police were patrolling the area when they received a call from 10111 about a burglary in progress at Shoprite Usave.

A quick response by police officers resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

Communications officer at Katlehong SAPS Capt Mega Ndobe said when police arrived on scene they heard something breaking inside the store.

“The store manager arrived and opened the shop for police to enter. The suspect was found hiding inside the store room,” Ndode said.

It is believed the suspect cut the roof and ceiling open to enter the store.

“The suspect’s bag was found full of biscuits and pies,” Ndobe said.

Katlehong SAPS commander Brig Sammy Thambo applauded police officers for a job well done.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Court soon to face a charge of business burglary.
