Katlehong North police share their successes

Katlehong North SAPS arrested seven suspects during several weekend operations.

Katlehong North police took to the streets of Katlehong North to conduct several weekend operations.

The operations were held between March 29 and 31 and led to the arrest of seven suspects.

The accused were arrested for several different offences.

Charges included:

• Common assault: 2

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 1

• Shoplifting: 1

• Resisting arrest: 1

• Dealing in drugs: 1

• Possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition: 1

During the operations police also seized an undisclosed amount of money believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.

Officers also seized drugs, a firearm, which had its serial number removed, and seven rounds of ammunition.

During several police operations in Katlehong North police seized drugs and an undisclosed amount of money.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong North SAPS acting station commander Lt Col Eric Tsheoga applauded the commitment shown by officers in attempting to rid the precinct of drug-related crimes.

“The use of drugs is a generator of violence and crime and needs to be nipped in the bud,” said Tsheoga.
