Thuto-Lesedi top achievers rewarded

Thuto-Lesedi Secondary School in Vosloorus rewarded a number of their learners for being the school’s top achievers at an award ceremony at the local Nguni Hall recently.

Top achievers from Grade Eight to Grade 12 were awarded certificates and medals for their outstanding performances during the 2018 academic year.

The ceremony was sponsored by PK Print Zone, a printing company based in Johannesburg.

Phakamani Mtshali, chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, said the purpose of the event was to motivate learners to perform well in their studies as they prepare for the end of the year exams.

“We want the learners to continue to excel and take their education seriously. At the same time, we want them to know their hard work is recognised.

“I am here today to ensure children who performed well last year do not underperform this year. At the same time, I want those who did not do well to do well this year,” said Mtshali.

Best performing learners in Grade Eight were Nkosanathi Dube and Njabulo Ximba. They took position one. Position two went to Ntokozo Mahlangu followed by Mbali Makhubu in position three and Chatmain Xisandzaku in position four. Three learners – Ntokozo Buthelezi, Blessing Hlongwane and Nkatheko Mathebula – took position five.

Grade Nine top achiever was Karabo Tsotetsi while Khanyisile Meyi took position two followed by Jabulane Vila in the third position. Two learners shared the spoils in position four. They are Simphiwe Mtshali and Samkelisiwe Ntombela with Ayanda Zitha taking position five.

Grade 10 top achievers were Asanda Kubheka, Zandile Khumalo, Bridget Makuwe and Nomthandazo Masango, all attaining position one status. They were followed by Zama Madondo and Sibanyoni Ayanda both occupying second position. Ntombikayise Mahlangu and Lebohang Mabasa took position three. Ayanda Kubheka took position four followed by Matsuma Mohale and Bongumusa Sibiya in position five.

Grade 11 top achievers were Keketso Mahlangu and Mangue Cynthia both in position one. Yandisa Maphanga in position two followed by Thembinkosi Mkhabela and Ayanda Nyandeni in position three. Position four went to Nqobile Nhlapo with Tinyiko Nsikeng in position five.

Grade 12 top achievers were Lebohang Thuse in position one, followed by Ayanda Sithole in position two. Ayanda Ngcobo and Ndondo Seemi shared the third position and Nosipho Kolo and Fiona Manda were placed fourth.

The school thanked Mtshali for his gesture of goodwill.
