Suspects hijack and steal from delivery vehicle in Palm Ridge

The driver of the vehicle was unharmed but goods were stolen from the car.

MEMBERS of Ekurhuleni Flying Squad recovered a stolen delivery vehicle on January 22.

The officers received a complaint that the delivery vehicle was hijacked on Bongolo Street in Palm Ridge. It was claimed the same vehicle was abandoned on Cleo Street in Palm Ridge.

Two warrant officers proceeded to the location given to them by the complainant and found the vehicle. The vehicle’s doors were wide open and some of the cargo that was in the van was still left inside.

The vehicle was transporting cell phones, starter packs and stationary.

The officers found a man near the vehicle who informed the officers that he was the driver of the van.

The driver alleged that two males hijacked the vehicle and locked him in the back of the van. He alleges that the suspects offloaded some of the cargo of the van. He was rescued from his predicament by members of the community.

The driver of the van was unharmed but a stock to the value of R9 800 was stolen from the vehicle.

No arrests have been made in connection with the theft.

Any member of the community who has information that can assist the police in finding the suspects should contact Eden Park SAPS on 011 439 1806 or phone 10111.
