Vosloorus cops confirm hijacking of army general

According to Rossouw, Maj Gen Nontobeko Mpaxa was hijacked while travelling to her home in Centurion from the Eastern Cape.

Capt Piet Rossouw, spokesperson for the Vosloorus SAPS, has confirmed that a South African National Defence Force Maj Gen was hijacked at the Petroport on the N3 on January 17.

“She had just finished buying some odds and things at the shop and was returning to her car when five armed men suddenly appeared and pointed at her with a firearm,” Rossouw explained.

“She was forced into the back seat and her head was covered with her leather jacket. The vehicle was driven to an unknown place where she was dropped off in an open space not far from the Midas motor spare shop on Bierman Road,” said Rossouw.

She was robbed of all her personal belongings, including three cellphones, but she was not injured during the incident. “We already alerted the crime intelligence officers to assist us with the investigation to locate Mpaxa’s car and apprehend the culprits responsible for the crime,” said Rossouw.
