Luyanda hails from South of Johannesburg, from a family of five and studied drama at the National School of the Arts (NSA). The Legacy was the first TV show she has ever been casted for.

With Luyanda you get the full package as she is a motivational speaker, MC, voice-over artist and presenter. She is currently working with two non-profit organisations called Jam (SA) and Caring4Girls which focus on children’s needs and provide them with food, donating sanitary products and other necessities.

She describes herself as someone who excelled academically but was as a bench warmer for netball when it comes to sport.

The Festival of Fame, which is hosted once a year, drew her to the acting industry and inspired her to live a life of a performer.

She told KATHORUS the role of Lesedi wasn’t easy to land as she was nervous during her auditions.

“My audition was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I was loud and nervous but I just said to myself that’s it, television isn’t my thing. But little did I know judges were impressed and two weeks after auditioning I received a call confirming that I have landed the role,” Luyanda explained.

Luyanda and her character Lesedi have one thing in common – a love of food.

“We are different in many ways. Lesedi is not aware of her surroundings and she basically goes where life takes her. Lesedi never had a family bond like Luyanda. Playing the character at first took caused so much anxiety but now I can honestly say I enjoy being Lesedi,” she said.

Luyanda said one of her challenges is working with older people.

“Working with old people is sometimes a challenge because they are too serious and I am always playful,” she said.

Chatting to COURIER, the actress said she does not have a boyfriend and has never dated before stating in Zulu ‘Ayikho iex’ meaning she has no ex-boyfriend. She went on to say she is too young to be in a relationship.

Luyanda wants to see herself growing as a brand in the next couple of years.
