“The same vehicle (that fits the description) was spotted at Ramokonopi West Section. The police stopped the vehicle and searched the four suspects who were in the vehicle. A 9mm pistol with erased serial number and 16 rounds of ammunition were seized from one of the suspects while a balaclava, gloves, cable ties and macamisa (a device used to break padlock) were found in the vehicle,” Ndobe said.

He said the suspects, aged between 25 and 57, were arrested and have been detained at Katlehong Police Station.

“Suspects have been charged with unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition and possibly conspiracy to commit a crime,” said Ndobe.

He added: “Firearm seized will be taken for a ballistic testing to determine whether the same firearm was involved in other crimes.”

They are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Court soon.

The investigation in this matter is continuing.
