TPY celebrates 10 years in youth development

Thokoza Progressive Youth (TPY), an organisation that works with youth and does different community development projects, celebrated its 10th anniversary on November 25.

TPY empowers youth from underprivileged socioeconomic backgrounds through initiating sustainable projects that holistically assist in skills development. The organisation is also involved in education and training, poverty alleviation and enterprise development.

To achieve its objectives, the organisation partners with other strategic stakeholders.

Under its guardianship, the organisation saw more than 52 students graduate in various ICT courses at the Thokoza Old Age Home.

The graduates included local business owners and high school learners who gained competency in end-user computing.

Chief executive officer Mduduzi Tshabalala said he was impressed to see many females graduate as technicians.

“Many people believe the industry is for male people. Looking at a large number of females who graduated on the day, it means females are now taking the industry by storm,” said Tshabalala.

Tshabalala was encouraged by the support the parents give to their children. “It was so amazing,” referring to the parents who turned up for the graduation.

He encouraged prospective students to enrol with TPY.

“We offer courses of high quality and all our courses are accredited under our name. There is no middleman,” said Tshabalala.

He added: “Those who want to know more about TPY can come to our offices at no 8679 Tshepo Street, Grinacker Skills Centre in Thokoza next to Shoprite U Save. Or contact 011 860 5204.”
