Two arrested in Thokoza for dealing in drugs

Acting on a tip-off, metro police arrested two suspects for possession of illicit substances.

TWO suspects were arrested by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit on November 16 in Thokoza.

The suspects were found to be in possession of Mandrax tablets and Cat with an estimated street value of R2 520.

The arrest came about when metro police officers responded to a tip-off from concerned members of the community. Upon searching the house indicated by the community, officers found 24 Mandrax tablets and a ziplock bag of Cat. In addition to the drugs, R450 cash, suspected to be proceeds from illicit dealings, was confiscated.

The suspects, a 28-year-old woman and 43-year-old man, were detained at the Thokoza Police Station and charged with possession and dealing of illicit substances.

They are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on November 19.
