Primary school rewards its top achievers

Thobejane Katleho received the Dux Scholar Award (best performer overall).

Intokozo Primary School, in Katlehong, held a ceremony to reward its top academic achievers on November 15.

The ceremony took place on the school premises where trophies and certificates were awarded to the top learners.

Principal Zenzele Mazibuko said the purpose of the event was to encourage learners.

“We want those learners who are doing well to continue to do so, and we want to show them that we highly appreciate their hard work. We also want those who are not doing well to know that is can be easily done. We want our learners to know that their achievements will be rewarded,” said Mazibuko.

Former learners of the school Prof Zenzele Vilakazi (lecturer at Wits University) and Sibusiso Vilakazi (Mamelodi Sundowns FC player) took part in the ceremony.

“The fact that they attended school here is motivation in itself. Our learners will see that success is not only for learners who attended school in the suburbs,” Mazibuko said.

Thobejane Katleho received the Dux Scholar Award (best performer overall).

The school’s new prefects vowed to take their tasks seriously at a candle-lighting ceremony observed in their honour. A special prayer was also said for them.
