Six killed in minibus and truck crash on N3 highway

Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) firefighters from Germiston Fire Station received a call after an accident on the N3, at about 4.15pm on November 5.

“According to information received on the scene, the minibus was travelling on the N3 from Germiston to Sunrise.

“The truck was stationary in the emergency lane.

“The minibus crashed into the truck from behind and six of the minibus passengers were killed instantly, while the other 10, including the driver, were rushed to different hospitals in ambulances,” said Ntladi.

The truck driver did not sustain any injuries.

Four of the deceased were females and two were male adults.

The freeway was closed until around 10pm.
