Help primary school rebuild classrooms

Teachers from Nageng Primary School in Vosloorus are pleading with the community to donate building materials to help them revamp six classrooms.

Teachers from Nageng Primary School in Vosloorus are pleading with the community to donate building materials to help them revamp six classrooms.

The classrooms are situated near the main entrance to the school.

One of the teachers, Bethuel Melebe, said they believe effective teaching and learning should be supported by the physical environment.

“The classroom environment is the ‘second teacher’ for any student. When students first step into a classroom, they make a judgement about the type of class they will be taking. They should feel inspired and valued in an appealing learning space,” said Malebe.

He said in order to fulfil their mission, they need building materials.

“We need help from the community. Please consider making a donation to Nageng Primary School. All money raised will be used for revamping and transforming the identified classrooms. All donations are needed and appreciated, regardless of size. Please consider the positive impact that appealing teaching and learning facilities will have on our learners and the community,” Malebe said.

The school estimates that the revamp will cost around R22 000.

The staff members are asking any companies to donate the required items.
