Remember to vote: Ntokozo Mwelase up for Man of the Year award

Voting lines for the 2018 Man of the Year awards close on October 31, so remember to vote.

One of the most hardworking members of the community of Kathorus, Ntokozo Mwelase, founder and director of The Future Shapers (TFS), has been nominated for the SA Men of the Year Awards.

Mwelase was born in Kwahlabisa, KwaZulu-Natal but grew up in Katlehong.

He started primary school at Sonqoba Primary School and proceeded to Mphontseng Secondary School, both in Katlehong.

Forgy Mokalapa, Mwelase’s manager, said Mwelase is a motivational speaker, youth mentor, life coach, training facilitator and director of TFS.

“TFS is an organisation formed in 2006 by Mwelase because he has the enthusiasm and passion to shape the youth and the community.

“The organisation deals with equipping youth in high schools with necessary life skills to deal with their day to day challenges and develop a positive behaviour and attitude towards life. This is effectively done through mentorship programmes, arts and heritage excursions, life skills training camps, health and fitness training, as well as career guidance camps,” said Mokalapa.

She added the organisation also offers motivational talks and academic support projects.

Mwelase also works as a resident life coach for a television programme called Blue Coach on SABC 2’s YoTV.

Blue Coach is a teen programme screened midweek in the afternoon and offers solutions to issues teenagers deal with in their everyday life.

“He has become the favourite in the show,” said Mokalaba.

The awards will take place at Carnival City on November 29.
