Afrox hosts fun day at Ezibeleni School

A local company recently brought smiles, joy and water slides, to the children at Ezibeleni School for Physically Disabled.

Afrox, on a yearly basis, runs a Community Volunteering Programme (CVP) where employees across Afrox operations are encouraged to dedicate their time to finding and supporting a community programme of their choice.

This year the company (Germiston branch) held Bambanani Day at Ezibeleni School for Physically Disabled in Katlehong on October 13.

The company donated money and the CVP committee is encouraged to do fund-raising to support their programme of choice.

The school caters for learners with learning and physical disabilities from Grade R to Grade Nine from all nine provinces. After consultations with the school management team, Afrox Gas Operation Centre (GOC) decided to support the school.

The school highlighted their needs, including the painting and repairing of their jungle gym and school dormitories. However, for this year Afrox focused on the school dining hall.

The company donated additional furniture for the school dining hall and a new fridge. In addition, the company also had a fun day where the children were treated to jumping castles, water slides and games until the rain decided to join the party.

Afrox staff also learned a lot on the difficulties faced by children with disabilities and got to see they are also just children who are naughty and love attention and playing with other children.

Lungiswa Mali, the company spokesperson, said: “Afrox prides itself in its involvement with the communities in which it trades, thus many more of these events are encouraged. The company looks forward to a continued relationship with the community of Katlehong and Ezibeleni School.”
