Ablution facility worth more than R6-million opened during Siyaqhuba

The metro is inclined to save money in future when hosting events at Germiston Lake, as there’ll no longer be a need to hire mobile toilets. This is according to MMC for Environmental and Waste Management Services, Clr Ndosi Shongwe.

Clr Ndosi Shongwe, the Ekurhuleni MMC for Environmental and Waste Management Services, officially opened a brand new R6-million ablution facility at Germiston Lake during the recent Siyaqhuba Service Delivery programme.

Germiston Lake attracts visitors from all over Ekurhuleni and Gauteng and upgrades to the facility started in 2013.

Previously, during one of Siyaqhuba programmes, the executive mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, urged his team to invest in building the ablution facility as it did not form part of the initial development of Germiston Lake.

“The new facility will save the council money as in the past mobile chemical toilets had to be hired every time a function was held at the lake,” said Shongwe.
