Local school teachers mourn their fallen hero

Gadimang Mokolobate was allegedly stabbed to death by a 17-year-old Grade 10 learner from a Zeerust school on September 13.

Teachers from Tshabalala Primary School in Katlehong came to school on September 18 wearing all black to mourn the death of North West school teacher Gadimang Mokolobate (24).

Mokolobate was allegedly stabbed to death by a 17-year-old Grade 10 learner from a Zeerust school on September 13.

Teachers from all over the country describe Mokolobate as a hero who died with chalk in his hands.

Educators from Tshabalala Primary School held a special ceremony at the school to show sympathy to traumatised teachers and learners from Mokolobate’s school.

The ceremony started with teachers observing a moment of silence which was followed by a short prayer where teachers prayed for their safety as they believe learners of today are unruly.

Bertha Mahlatji, who organised the ceremony at Tshabalala Primary School, said their hearts are sore and they are hurting inside.

“As Tshabalala Primary School, we would like to show respect to our fallen soldier.

“We would also like to say enough is enough with the killings, beatings and insulting of our colleagues by learners.

“We plead with law enforcement agencies to take action and be harsh to learners who are found guilty of a similar offences so such cases will be minimised.

“May Mokolobate’s soul rest in peace,” said Mahlatji.

The school will continue to wear black to show respect to their fallen hero until the end of this week.
