Girls’ dumped bodies found in Thokoza

The bodies of two children were found dumped in an open space next to Maphanzela Primary School in Thokoza on May 15.

According to the information received from the deceased’s father, Sbusiso Xaba, his daughter Nonkululeko Xaba (9) was last seen by her cousin Nokubonga Mpanza on May 13 at about 4.30pm while playing with her friend Manono Mhlongo (8).

“After I realised that Nonkululeko, who was a Grade Three learner at Ntokozo Primary School in Ncala Section, was missing I went to the Tokoza SAPS to report a missing person on May 14 at 8.30am,” said Sbusiso.

The police said Manono’s missing was also reported at the Katlehong Police Station by her mother Glorious Mhlongo, also on Monday at 11am.

Immediately after the two missing person cases were opened, the search for the two missing children started.

Capt Lesetsa Mathobela from the Tokoza SAPS said both children were found dead in an open space next to Maphanzela Primary School in Tokoza by the members of the community.

“The police who went to the scene found the dumped bodies. Nonkululeko’s body was wrapped in a pink duvet cover and Manono’s was inside a navy bag. Manono was wearing trousers and Nonkululeko was only wearing a top,” said Mathobela.

He said there were bruises on Nonkululeko’s face.

“We suspect they might have been molested,” said Mathobela.

Mathobela concluded by saying the police are following a lead from an eyewitness who saw the suspect leaving the crime scene on Sunday afternoon.

“The suspect is known to the eyewitness,” concludes Mathobela.

Sibusiso said he can’t explain the feeling of this situation.

“I feel a lot of pain in my heart as this sudden death of my child left a void that no one will fill. I always imagined my child as a doctor or the president in the future. Since there is nothing that will heal the wounds, at least the culprits must be found and be arrested,” said a sobbing Sbusiso.
