Burial society celebrate Mother’s Day

Kopano Kematla Society, a burial society based at Eastfield in Vosloorus, held their Mother’s Day celebration on May 12.

Thelma Ngomane, the chairperson of the society, said they held their celebration on Saturday because on Sunday they wanted to be at home and celebrate with their families.

She said the society was formed in 1993.

“We have 28 members now and we have been in existence for almost 25 years now,” said Ngomane.

“We help each other financially, physically and emotionally if one of our members loses a close relative like parents, in-laws, parent’s in-laws or children. It covers up to 10 family members at only R150 per month,” said Ngomane.

“There is a once-off joining fee of R1 000. It pays out up to R10 000 for each family member that dies.”

Ngomane concluded by saying they travel to help and comfort their members no matter how far the funeral might be.

“We pay the transport fee as well.”
