KAC and UAC represent Kathorus in Cross-Country League

The second instalment of the Cross-Country League, organised by Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA), took place at Sam Ntuli Sports Complex in Katlehong recently.

Two big running clubs from Katlehong, including Katlehong Athletics Club (KAC) and Ubuhle Athletics Club (UAC), took part.

The run took place from 11am to 5pm.

KAC chairman Hloni Motloung said this was an important event.

“If our runners compete in the league they can be considered for the CGA squad at the SA National Championship as well as the CGA Cross-Country Championship. To be considered for the CGA squad they must participate in and finish at least six events,” said Motloung.

Many of the young runners identified at these cross-country events are awarded with scholarships to further their education while their sports talent is nurtured.

Motloung said that KAC and UAC were encouraging parents to support their children in school athletics and in their running clubs’ development programmes.
