Six men arrested for dagga possession

Primrose police continue their efforts to curb substance abuse in their precinct.

Substance abuse still remains a serious problem in the informal settlements of Primrose.

This is according to the Primrose police who on Wednesday arrested six men, aged between 25 and 42 years old, for possession of dagga.

The arrests were made during a foot patrol of the Makause, Marathon and Delport informal settlements.

“Officers searched the suspects when they observed them acting suspiciously while they were on their patrol.

“All of the accused were brought to the Primrose Police Station, where they were formally charged,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where some were released after paying an admission of guilt fine and others had their cases postponed.

“We will continue to hold similar operations in an effort to curb crime and substance abuse in our precinct,” said Maome.

The Primrose police strongly believe that substance abuse can be linked to many cases of domestic violence, murders, assaults or even robberies.
