March to support people living with albinism

Sphamandla Organisation, which works with people living with albinism and is based in Vosloorus, will on April 28 lead a march to support people living with albinism.

The march will begin at the park in Extention Seven next to the Itumeleng Creche at 11am and will end at the Chris Hani Crossing Mall.

Thembisa Zwane, the founder and chairperson of Sphamandla Organisation, said the purpose of the march is to raise awareness of the unnecessary killings of people living with albinism.

“We want to use the march to let people know that people living with Albinism are human beings like they are. It is just that their skin condition is not the same as theirs. Their body parts are not to be used to make herbs or for healing or to change one’s bad luck to good luck. That is just a belief that has claimed the lives of innocent young and old people living with albinism, so this must come to an end,” said Zwane.

She said people living with albinism must be protected from evil people.

She concluded by inviting everyone who is against the killing of people living with albinism to come and join the march on the day.

“Whether you are living with Albinism or not. You are invited to the march,” concluded Zwane.
