Cajee said they are continuing with the legacy of the late Dr Ebrahim Mayet, who ran the same practice for over 40 years. “He was a philanthropist who loved giving back to the Vosloorus community. As his successors we want to do the same,” said Cajee.
Pensioners will be charged a special rate of R270 for their first visit to the surgery, including medication. Subsequent visits for chronic pensioners will be between R150 and R200 inclusive of medicines for the whole month.
Cajee said they chose Fortune Kunene Primary because one of their staff is an ex-learner of the school.
Maureen Mace, head of the foundation phase, spoke on behalf of teachers, governing body members and learners, saying the school was greatly in need of such donations. “Teachers will use the laptops to conduct research and bring information to the classroom so that learning will be easy,” said Mace.
She said the laptops will also help parents to get learners’ report cards on time. “We are excited as a school. This is the second donation that the school has got in a short space of time.”
Mace said their vision was for the school to be a centre of technology by 2020.
Nkosinathi Ramara, chairperson of the governing body, thanked Cajee for choosing their school out of 2 300 schools in Gauteng.
