Three suspects nabbed for murder

Members of Provincial Taxi Violence (PTV) arrested three suspects aged 30, 34 and 36 for murder and possession of AK47 rifles.

The suspects were arrested in three different areas on February 9.

Katlehong corporate communication official Capt Mega Ndobe said PTV members were following information on the murder case related to taxi violence under a Germiston case which occurred in 2015.

“It is alleged that PTV members followed the case to KwaNongoma in KZN where a 36-year-old suspect was arrested at 2am on the day. During the interrogation against the suspect he led the police back to Wadeville in Gauteng where another suspect (30) was arrested,” said Ndobe.

He said a 30-year-old suspect led the police to Mazibuko Hostel in Katlehong whereby the police arrested a 34-year-old suspect.

“A 34-year-old suspect was found in possession of two AK47 rifles with 82 rounds of ammunition. All suspects arrested will be charged with murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” Ndobe said.

Rifles will be taken to ballistic for further investigation in order to find out if the rifles were involved in other crimes.

Suspects are expected to appear in Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
