Chief whip and ANC caucus Exco members visit PCOs in Ekurhuleni region to strengthen coordination

ANC chief whip Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi with the executive committee of the ANC caucus visited all ANC Parliamentary Constituency Office (PCO) study groups in Ekurhuleni on January 29.

Part of the purpose was to engage on various issues related to service delivery.

This is with the sole determination of improving the turnaround performance and monitoring of the city’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) on projects that are currently underway in many parts of the city’s region.

As part of the oversight functions of the ANC ward councillors, their roles were clearly stipulated during the workshop.

According to Clr Dlabathi, the monthly reports will assist in putting pressure on the system until issues related to service delivery are resolved.

“The ANC councillors must play a role in ensuring that the progress on tracking projects are monitored and reported back to the office monthly,” the ANC chief whip explains.

He further alluded to the fact that ward councillors have a responsibility to report back to the community they serve, including various community stakeholders to ensure that communities are conversant with the municipal developments in their respective wards.

The purpose of the visit was also to workshop the convener and ward councillors deployed on the functions of the PCOs.

Furthermore, this was a continuation of the programme as chief whip and Exco have already commenced the programme in August 2017.
