School recognises its top learners and staff

To motivate all its learners and teachers, Sekgutlong Primary School in Katlehong held an awards ceremony on November 21.

The ceremony was followed by the Grade R graduation function on Saturday, November 25.

There were many awards on offer that went to various teachers and learners.

The Principal’s School Genius 2017 Award went to Grade Seven learner Perfect Phiri (13).

The teacher’s award for 100 per cent attendance went to Lebohang Sanasie (Grade Two) and Bontle Boyang (Grade One).

Best teacher in extracurricular activities (music) went to Zanele Dlamini, who won four trophies for the school at district level through regional level and provincial level.

Awards went to two patrollers who have been honest and who patrolled and protected the school day and night. They are Richard Khanyile and Joyce Motaung. Both patrollers are CPF members.

During the Grade R graduation function on Saturday, November 25, learners were awarded certificates.

Various activities took place to showcase what the teachers had been busy with during the year.

Teachers and parents were present.

School principal Olga Maja said the purpose of the graduation was to motivate all learners and teachers within the school.

“Teachers and learners have both worked hard. But others have excelled. It means they can do better than they did this year.

“There were two new awards, the patrollers’ award and the 100 per cent attendance award for teachers. Not a single school has done this before. We are proud of this initiative,” said Maja.

She congratulated all teachers and learners who received awards on the day and motivated all the others to do better if they wanted to be recognised in future.
