Sphinx Shellhole looking for new members

The Sphinx Shellhole in Boksburg is inviting residents of Boksburg and surrounding towns to join the organisation.

To become a member of the organisation, you must have at least served in any of the war operations within and outside the country during the past wars.

To join or find out more about the organisation, interested people may contact Denis Ing on 0829 25 0257.

The Boksburg Advertiser recently reported that the other Boksburg Moth organisation, known as Boksburg Gap, has closed down following depletion of membership.

The Sphinx Shellhole is, however, still operating and some of the former members of the closed Boksburg Gap have joined it.

Sphinx is a war veterans’ organisation which exists to assist every serviceman or ex-soldiers as well as members of other organisations who rendered their services in the past wars, including World War I, World War II and the Border War, also known as the Bush War.

It operates in the spirit of veterans helping veterans and the communities at large. Apart from organising remembrance events and parades, it’s a place where former members of the military and people who served in operations during the past wars can gather to tell war stories and reminisce about the past. It also exists to take care of the current challenges in any veteran’s life.

Members meet at the organisation’s offices at 31 Church Street, Boksburg, at 9am on the first Saturday of each month, excluding January.
