Katlehong SAPS head holds station lecture

During the lecture, Mdlankomo awarded certificates to dedicated men and women in blue and other members were encouraged to follow in the footsteps of those who received awards.

Recipients were rewarded for good leave management, for working hard and quick to solve difficult cases they were tasked to do.

Other staff members were awarded certificates for working hard to keep the police station clean.

Mdlankomo said the purpose of the lecture was to thank the officers who did well in the current part of the three-year cycle.

She said they were in the last month of the second year of the three-year cycle.

“But there are dedicated police officers who have not taken their leave until this point in time. Others have abused their leave in such a way that they have no leave days left.

“Today I am going to award all those who have managed their leave well. It is not that they have never been sick in that period of time. They have simply shown love for their work and came to work even though they were sick. Others turned their cars into mobile pharmacies. They used their cars to keep their medication and continued to come to work even though they were sick,” said Mdlankomo.

Those awarded regarding leave are: Lt Col MS Mogolane, Capt SM Siphuma, MA Nyamande, SS Nhleko, JN Msibi, EV Shezi, TL Manzana, HR Baloyi and JC Buthelezi, W/O MM Motolo; Sgt XIF Ntombela, SW Simawu, JM Kubeka, FJ Magudulela, MD Gana and ME Kgaphola; Const BSE Mntungwa, T Mashilloang and JM Maswanganyi.

W/O Bheki Mathe and Sgt Sibongile Sibuye were awarded for solving quickly the most difficult murder cases they were assigned to.

W/O Mathe worked day and night to find a 26-year-old suspect (Tankiso Simon Halayi) who was involved in the murder case that occurred in February this year. The accused was convicted in Palm Ridge Regional Court Two on October 11 and was sentenced to nine years in prison.

Sgt Sibuye also worked hard to find a 33-year-old suspect (Dumisani Mathenjwa) who was involved in another murder case that occurred in June 2016. Mathenjwa was sentenced to 14 years’ direct imprisonment at Palm Ridge Regional Court Two on October 11.

Mdlankomo said most of the time it becomes difficult to solve such cases but these two made sure the criminals are behind bars and that they don’t get lighter sentences.

Other staff members, namely NG Bhe who is a cleaner was also awarded for keeping the police station yard clean, and MB Maja the driver was awarded for always being at work. Mashudu Nemudzivhanda (handyman) was awarded for his dedication to his work. “Every time you need him he is available. He does not make excuses,” said Mdlankomo.

Mdlankomo said Bhe is always out in the garden working hard every day no matter the weather conditions. “The yard is as neat as it is because of his dedication to his work.”

Mdlankomo said a young Cost Sivenkosi Mtwa had shown dedication while he was working at the CFCI.

“I saw that he is talented and that his talent was being wasted in that department. I asked him to give me his CV. After seeing his CV I realised he has a degree in public relations and communication. I decided to place him in the communication department under the supervision of the experienced Capt Mega Ndobe. I asked Ndobe to guide him. Today he is doing wonders for this station – that is why I decided to award him today,” said Mdlankomo.

PB Manzini and RJ Chivina also got certificates for their dedication.

Mdlankomo added that staff members who were awarded that day were not the only ones who did well.

“There are other staff members who did well in their departments. They are going to be awarded certificates for their good deeds. We just highlighted these individuals today,” Mdlankomo told Kathorus MAIL.

She added that there will be other award ceremonies. “Those who did not get awards today will be awarded then,” she said.
