Women are no saints when it comes to serious crimes

Ekurhuleni Task Team members on July 11 arrested two cousins in Katlehong for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

One of the two cousins was a woman (32) and another cousin was a man (30).

Communication official at Katlehong SAPS Capt Mega Ndobe said the task team members were patrolling the streets of Katlehong.

“They received a tip-off about a hijacked motor vehicle at Brackendowns. The police followed the lead. As a result, a man (30) was arrested for being found in possession of a motor vehicle,” said Ndobe

He said the police searched the vehicle and discovered a firearm.

“During the investigation, it was discovered that the same firearm was used during the hijacking and was seized from the suspect,” said Ndobe.

He said further investigation led the police to a 32-year-old woman’s house where they found another unlicensed firearm. The woman was also arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition,” Ndobe told Kathorus MAIL.

He said the male suspect will be charged with possession of hijacked a motor vehicle and for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“There is a possibility that a suspect can also be charged with a hijacking in Brackendowns. His cousin will be charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” Ndobe explained.

The two are expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate Court soon.

The investigation is continuing.
