SAPS investigate case of murder of a girl (13)

Katlehong SAPS are investigating the case of murder of a 13-year-old girl on Wednesday, July 12, at the Mokoena Informal Settlement in Katlehong

Communication officer at Katlehong Police Station, Capt Mega Ndobe said: “It is alleged that a girl had been missing from July 11 after she was sent by her parents to a shoemaker to repair a shoe. She did not come back home and the parents decided to go to Katlehong Police Station, to report the matter,” said Ndobe.

He said a missing person file was opened immediately.

“On Thursday, we got information from a passer-by who saw the body of a young girl lying behind one of the shacks. The shack where the body was found was two houses away from the house she was sent to,” Ndobe told Kathorus MAIL.

He said the police discovered that the girl had bruises on her neck and an injury to her head.

“The police conducted an investigation and it was revealed that the shoe that the girl had with her was found inside the same shack where the body was found. The police also found tablets some of which were similar to the one found next to the girl’s body.

“Two suspects aged 35 and 50 who live in the shack, were arrested,” said Ndobe.

He said the two suspects are expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate Court soon – on a charge of murder.

The investigation is continuing.
