Vosloorus CPF and SAPS award local school

Vosloorus CPF and SAPS on Friday, June 30, held a prize-giving ceremony to reward Ndlelelnhle Primary School learners for their outstanding performance during the schools competition.

The competition took place at the Vosloorus Civic Centre on Wednesday, May 10, where primary school learners had to speak on the topic of “Substance abuse and vandalism”.

Lucy Mnyandu, the life orientation teacher at Ndlelelnhle Primary, said the entire staff was proud of the learners.

“They have made the whole school proud. And they have put the school on the map.

“During the day of the competition, learners were told to sing, dance, act, deliver a speech and recite a poem within 10 minutes. They managed to do that within that period of time,” said an excited Mnyandu.

She said they were chosen as the best school in acting and received certificates.

“We are grateful that the CPF and SAPS kept their promise and came to the school to give out awards to the learners,” she said.

School principal Teboho Peeha said the awareness event at the civic centre helped the learners.

“The Grade Seven learners are exposed to drugs. Now they know that drugs are not good.

“The event made them aware of the effects of drugs and that drugs can lead to crime.

“They now also know where to get help in case they become addicted,” said Peeha.

He said the school doesn’t have a drug problem.

“But now they will think twice if someone wants to deceive them and tells them drugs are good,” Peeha said.

Khanyisile Shabangu, who earned the award for best actor, said they were happy to have made the school proud.

“About 10 of us went to represent the school at the civic centre. Our teachers prepared us well and supported us all equally.

“Everything we achieved today was because of their love and support.

“In order for children to achieve big things in life, they must get love from their parents. If they get love they will get confidence and with confidence there is nothing they cannot do in life,” said Shabangu.
