Katlehong SAPS arrests two brothers aged 28 and 34

Two siblings, 28 and 34, were recently arrested by Katlehong SAPS at Basothong Hostel in Vosloorus.

They were arrested for pointing a firearm at a 37-year-old man in Katlehong Extension 20 on the same day.

Communication official at Katlehong Police Station, Capt Mega Ndobe, said: “It is alleged that the two brothers went to the victim’s place and demanded the taxi permits.”

Apparently an argument started between the victim and the suspects which resulted in one of the suspects pulling out the firearm and pointing it at the victim. No shots were fired and the victim was not injured.

“The case of pointing of a firearm was registered. After registering the case, the Katlehong SAPS conducted a quick investigation which led to the arrest of two suspects at Basothong Hostel,” said Ndobe.

He said the suspects are expected to appear in Palm Ridge Court soon and that another 12 suspects were arrested around Katlehong area.

“The suspects were arrested during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted by the police crime prevention unit. During the operation an 18-year-old suspect was arrested for being in possession of a stolen copper cable,” said Ndobe.

He said other suspects were arrested for malicious damage to property, theft and for being in possession of dagga.
