Vosloorus CPF run Dignity Programme at schools

Vosloorus CPF visited 13 schools in Vosloorus through ‘Dignity Programme’ to give away dozens of sanitary towels to young girls in the schools.

The programme ran from June 28 till June 29.

Department of Community Safety, Rand Water and Vosloorus SAPS worked hand-in-hand with the CPF to run the programme successfully.

Wiseman Langa, CPF project co-ordinator, said only schools that participated in the ‘School’s Talk Against Substance Abuse’ competition at Vosloorus Civic Centre, on May 17, benefitted.

“We run the programme this time of the year to give dignity to those learners whose parents can’t afford to buy sanitary towels for them. We don’t want them to miss school as they are busy writing examinations. We are aware that there are learners who miss school during their menstruation,” said Langa.

He said because of the programme those learners will now never miss school.

“We make sure we leave enough sanitary towels to last for the whole year,” said Langa.

Among 13 schools that were visited, five were secondary schools including Lethulwazi, Erasmus Monareng, Masithwalisane, Vosloorus Comprehensive and Thuto-Lesedi secondary schools.

About eight were primary schools namely Polokehong, Khayelihle, Nageng, Mampudi, Fortune Kunene, Ndlelenhle, Ikusasalethu and Bopang Khotso Primary.
