Mayor Masina signs MoU with Lusaka

Ekurhuleni executive mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, completed the signing of the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the mayor of Lusaka, Zambia, Clr Wilson Kalumba, in Germiston on Thursday, March 23.

“As the City of Ekurhuleni, by signing this Memorandum of Understanding we want to deal with issues of heritage conservation, by implementing a number of strategic initiatives, both in Lusaka and here in South Africa. We also look forward to strategic sessions on knowledge sharing and cultural exchanges. Between the two countries there’s a rich history of political freedom, which is anchored by the foundation that is the struggle stalwart OR Tambo,” said Mayor Masina.

The Zambian signature had been outstanding in the MoU, which was signed in 2008 with Alfred Nzo District Municipality and the City of Ekurhuleni.

Mayor Masina also handed over a copy of the letter written by OR Tambo to the former president of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, while Tambo was in exile in Italy.
