Katlehong detectives arrest suspect for robbery

Katlehong detectives arrested a 34-year-old man at Moleleki Extention Two for robbery with firearm on Monday, March 27.

Communications official at Katlehong police station, Capt Mega Ndobe, said, “It is alleged that on Tuesday, December 27, last year, at about 10.15am, a 20-year-old man was robbed of cash estimated at about R15 000 when he was about to leave his place.

“Two armed suspects held him at gunpoint and demanded his bag. The victim was left unharmed. The two suspects fled the crime scene in a VW Golf. The registration number was given to the police.

“The matter was reported to the Katlehong police and a case of robbery with firearm was registered for investigation,” said Ndobe.

He said the police detectives had been investigating the case ever since it was reported.

“On Monday, March 27, the Katlehong police detectives received information about the whereabouts of the suspect. The suspect was arrested while driving the same car that was spotted during the robbery.

“The police are still looking for the second suspect. The arrested man will appear in the Palm Ridge court soon on a charge of armed robbery,” said Ndobe.

The investigation continues.
