Two murder suspects nabbed by Zonkizizwe Police

Zonkizizwe police arrested two male suspects on Friday, November 11, in connection with the murder of one Community Policing Forum (CPF) patroller and the attempted murder of another.

According to the communication officer at Zonkizizwe Police Station, Sgt Rufus Tema, two patrollers were posted for night duties at Umtholo Primary School on Thursday, November 10. One female patroller (36) was shot and killed on the scene, while her colleague (22) was rushed to hospital in serious but stable condition.

The investigation started immediately and led the police to a house in Zone Five where the 24-year-old suspect was arrested.
Our investigation continued tirelessly and led us to Zonkizizwe Taxi Rank where another suspect (36) was cornered and arrested. He was found in possession of a licensed firearm,” said Tema.
The police are not sure yet whether the weapon is the one used in the murder or not. Tema said the weapon was seized and booked in for ballistic examination. The suspects are expected to appear in the Palmridge Court soon for murder and attempted murder charges,” said Tema.
