Two arrested in Daveyton after murder of EMPD officer

Two suspects were been arrested by EMPD officials in Daveyton on Thursday in connection with the murder of Major Coert Jordaan of the EMPD Equestrian Unit.

Lt Col Lungelo Dlamini, SAPS province spokesman, says the arrest follows the manhunt for the suspects who killed the officer at Aston Lake on Wednesday.

The decease’s Nissan Navara, two firearms (pistols) and a knife were recovered.

Dlamini says the EMPD officials followed up on information received from the community about the whereabouts of the suspects.

The suspects will be charged with murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of a stolen vehicle when they appear in the Springs Magistrate Court.

Dlamini says the suspects will appear in court within the next 48 hours.

Jordaan went fishing at Aston Lake at 7am on Wednesday and his body was found by an Ashton Lake employee at 2.30pm.

Dlamini says the body was found lying on the grass with stab wounds and two empty 9mm rounds were found next to his body.

The police suspect that a sharp object was used to kill Jordaan.
